Out of Sight —Love Scene
There is no question that director Steven Soderbergh’s 1998 American crime film is a most delightful sophisticated gem; an all out class act. It was and would be more than likely enjoyed by mature audiences. But don’t let this genre mislead you. Out of Sight is above all, a romantic; albeit a sizzling movie.
It has been rated a decent 7.1 at IMDB. And the cast is full of heavy hitters, which you can also check out following the IMDB link. However, none of the roles have been outdone or gone over the top; thus, leaving all the focus on the two main characters, i.e. bank robber Jack Foley performed by George Clooney and U.S. Marshall Karen Sisco, performed by Jennifer Lopez.
Although Clooney and Lopez are accomplished super stars, they are not my preferred dramatic actors. I mean their movies are entertaining and all; but I am a bit more partial towards dramatic actresses the likes of Maggie Smith and Judi Dench. However, in this film, Ms. Lopez delivers her role simply superbly as does Mr. Clooney. They chemistry between the two of them is undeniable.
I don’t want to delve into the script/plot itself except to say that it is entertaining, at times humorous and to a lesser extent thrilling. But as I said earlier, this is a love story; even if it’s kind of an unusual one. What you will not find in this movie is gore, which is great. And you will not find any vulgarity at all, either.
The center piece of this eclectic love story is perfect, the dialog most convincing, editing is precise, music endearing and the execution simply superb. What’s more, there are no clichés. So why am I so enthusiastic about this particular scene? Simply put, I can relate to it one hundred percent.
I have added the specific YouTube video so you can judge for yourself. But if you haven’t seen this little gem yet, go ahead and watch it. I think you won’t be disappointed and if you have already seen it, then you know what I am talking about.
