East of Eden

James-Dean2

East of Eden is a 1952 novel by John Steinbeck. Recently I watched the 1955 film East of Eden based on John Steinbeck’s fantastic novel and directed by Elia Kazan. After more than half a century this movie hasn’t lost its luster and power. If you haven’t seen it… go for it. The movie runs 115 minutes long. It has been rated very highly at IMDb, the internet movie database.

East of Eden 1955 filmObviously there are some differences between the movie and the novel, as it is usually the case with most books. Nevertheless, director Kazan creates a movie master piece which captures the essence of the book, giving us a wonderful art form in its own right. Finally, this is James Dean’s first major movie and he sets it on fire: You will not be disappointed!
